About Us

Green:Inspired:Art is an outgrowth of the Arts & Business Council of New York’s basic mission — creating partnerships between the business and not-for-profit arts communities of New York City. Because the environment needs our help, ecology became a third part of this project. The first Green:Inspired:Art contest as held at the Rubenstein atrium of Lincoln Center in September of 2011.

Teams from Francis Cauffman Architects’, HSBC, Tekserve, and Union Square Cafe plus a group of entrepreneurs were the first contestants. Materials For The Arts was the supplier of most of the reusable material and has continued to play that role. In addition, Harriet Taub the Director of Materials For The Arts has served as a judge since the first contest and in April, John Cloud Kaiser, Director Of Education, joined as a judge for the third Green:Inspired:Art event.

Tekserve graciously hosted the second contest in December 2011.

The April 2012 contest was hosted by the Museum of Arts and Design as a start of the weekend of Earth Day. The Museum is also a long-term partner — Dorothy Twining Globus, Curator of Exhibits, has been one of our judges since the first contest.
